Train like an athlete for the NBHWC exam

Did you play sports growing up? I’ve been around sports most of my life, and volleyball is where I’ve always felt most at home. To this day, I still play in city leagues and summer tournaments when I can, especially 2-on-2 grass games, where there’s nowhere to hide and every play counts.

There’s something about training for sports that reminds me a lot of preparing for the NBHWC exam. You can’t just show up and hope for the best—you need a game plan. You’ve got to put in the reps, build your stamina, and get used to the pressure so you’re not rattled when it counts.

If you’ve ever trained for a sport, you already know what that looks like: structure, consistency, and practicing with purpose.

You don’t just wing it and hope for the best. You follow a plan, practice your skills, and simulate game-day pressure so you can show up strong and ready.

That same mindset works beautifully for exam prep too, and it’s exactly how I designed the Health Coach Study Hall method.

Here’s how our method works:

  1. Start Smart = Your Training Plan

Just like an athlete follows a structured training schedule, our 6-Week Guided Study Plan helps you stay focused and consistent. It breaks down all of the NBHWC competencies into manageable chunks, so you build endurance and momentum without burning out.

2. Stay Sharp = Skill Drills & Reps

Every great athlete practices the basics—over and over—until they’re second nature. That’s what the Content Review Quizzes are for. They reinforce the essential “language” of coaching, helping you lock in key concepts and terminology so they’re ready when you need them.

3. Show Up Strong = Scrimmage Time

You wouldn’t enter a big game without scrimmaging first. The Practice Exams are like full-speed game simulations—with immediate answer feedback! They train your brain for the real test environment, build confidence under pressure, and show you exactly where to adjust before game day.

Bottom line:

This method helps you prep with the same mindset as a high-performing athlete:
smart strategy, consistent reps, and targeted practice.

At the heart of every Health Coach Study Hall resource is a steady commitment to keeping things simple, clear, and effective.

With so much noise out there about how to prep, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But the truth is, you likely don’t need more. You just need what works. These tools are designed to bring calm, clarity, and confidence to your study process.

It’s truly everything you need and nothing you don’t, so you can move through your prep with focus and peace of mind all the way to exam day.

Rooting for you!
