Take them in Exam Mode, to replicate the real exam experience, or in Practice Mode, and get instant answer feedback. Both options are included in your purchase so you can decide how you want to prepare.

Our founder, Laurie Thomeczek, wrote all the questions herself, and the distribution of question topics match what the NBHWC prioritizes for the actual exam.

Laurie spent three years supporting a corporate NBHWC training program, where she helped train coaches, update curriculum, and led the development of over 200 practice exam questions. She currently supports the program at Front Range Community College and, in her full-time role, continues to train and evaluate health and wellness coaches. She is considered a subject-matter expert in coaching and behavior change.

She’s also spent a lot of time immersed in the exam format and style and has studied NBHWC’s exam structure really closely. Students who have taken Health Coach Study Hall’s practice exams have said they feel strikingly similar to the real thing.

The NBHWC exam is known for being unpredictable and for leaning heavily on judgment-based scenario questions, which can feel very different from traditional studying. While we do our best to prepare students using the competencies, the official content outline, and patterns we’ve observed from NBHWC’s sample questions and years of feedback from test-takers, we don’t have access to the exam itself. That means our questions are always designed as the best possible approximation of what you might encounter.

We’ve heard from coaches that our practice exams feel very much like the real thing. Even so, the NBHWC exam can differ from cycle to cycle, and each person’s experience may vary.

Ethics and legal questions make up a small portion of the NBHWC exam, and we’re intentional about helping you focus your time where it matters most. The best way to prepare for this content is to read the NBHWC’s official Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics, which are your primary resources.

That said, you will get practice with ethics and legal concepts in our full-length and half-length practice exams, where these types of questions are woven in for realistic prep.

We aim to provide everything you need (and nothing you don’t) to help you study efficiently and confidently.

The key difference is scope and how you interact with the material.

The Health and Wellness Biometrics Quiz focuses on the key numbers you’re expected to have memorized for the exam. It uses a mix of question types—multiple choice, true/false, matching, and fill-in-the-blank—to actively test you and reinforce learning through immediate feedback.

The Health and Wellness Flashcards are fully comprehensive, covering all health and wellness competencies outlined in the NBHWC Content Outline, not just biometrics. They’re visually engaging and designed for quick, bite-sized review, making them ideal if you like studying with visual cues and short, repeatable recall sessions.

Which one should you choose?
Both options are mobile-friendly and designed for flexible, on-the-go study, and while you may not need both, many learners find that using them together is especially effective. Choose the format that best matches your learning style and study habits.
